Chair Yoga at Dow Rummel Village

Chair Yoga at Dow Rummel Village focuses on balance, strengthening, and flexibility, with modifications available for all ranges of motion. Each session incorporates movements that engage the spine in all six directions—extensions, forward folds, side stretches, and twists—often flowing smoothly from one pose to the next. A key element of the practice is synchronizing breath with movement, enhancing both relaxation and awareness. Every class concludes with a short, seated relaxation, leaving participants feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
Meet Nancy Dickinson: Your Yoga Instructor
Nancy has been a lifelong student of yoga, first inspired by watching Lilias Yoga on Public Television in the 1970s. She holds a 200-hour yoga certification from the Sioux Falls YMCA and has been teaching hatha yoga since the 1980s, leading sessions at Augustana University, Active Generations, and The History Club.
Nancy’s yoga philosophy is simple: “No New Pain” and “Less is More.” She believes in approachable and adaptive practice, ensuring that participants feel comfortable and confident in their movements.
As she joins the Dow Rummel Wellness Program, Nancy is excited to introduce residents to yoga—whether they become regular participants or simply want to try something new. With a welcoming and lighthearted approach, her classes foster connection and even a few laughs as participants “breathe and stretch” together.
Come join us for Chair Yoga beginning on March 4th. We will hold classes weekly on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 10:45 am in the Wellness Classroom. Come experience the benefits of mindful movement!
Stay Strong,
